A Quartett of Paintings
Quattro Passaggi brings together four paintings that correspond to the four seasons, understood not as fixed images but as states of transition. The title refers to the continuous passage from one season into the next, and to the movement within the paintings themselves: dripping surfaces, shifting forms, and the gradual transformation of one condition into another.
Each work is titled with an Italian musical term, chosen to describe the rhythm, atmosphere, and emotional register of its season.
Tremolo I, 2026 | oil on jute | 80 x 80 cm
Tremolo I marks spring as the first vibration. It suggests awakening, pulse, and the subtle trembling through which forms begin to loosen and emerge. In the painting, this is reflected in movement, fluidity, and the first visible shifts of shape.
Falsetto II, 2026 | oil on jute | 80 x 80 cm
Falsetto II belongs to summer, where movement rises into intensity and excess. The term evokes elevation, brightness, and a heightened register, echoing the expansion of forms and the flowing, almost heated quality of the paint.
Dimunuendo III, 2026 | oil on jute | 80 x 80 cm
With Diminuendo III, autumn enters a state of gradual withdrawal. The title refers to fading and softening, as shapes dissolve into traces and residues, carrying the image toward a quieter condition.
Grave IV, 2026 | oil on jute | 80 x 80 cm
Grave IV represents winter as weight, stillness, and condensation. Here movement settles into structure, as if the drips and shifts of the previous passages have gathered into a new body. Yet this stillness already contains the possibility of trembling again.
Together, the four passages form a cyclical sequence in which each season continuously transforms into the next. The musical titles extend the logic of the paintings, allowing them to be read almost like a score unfolding through time.
